Assault Victim Dies, Suspect Faces Additional Charges
Received a $1,000,000 secured bond and ordered held
LINCOLNTON, N.C. - On Thursday, July 25, 2024, the victim in this case, Brenda Hunter, 77, of North Little Egypt Rd. Denver who was assaulted by her son, passed away at Atrium Main Hospital in Charlotte, NC due to the injuries she sustained during the assault on July 19, 2024.
An autopsy was performed On July 26, 2024 where it was determined she died from blunt force trauma. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective D. Hendrix with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit obtained an additional charge on the suspect and served him on Friday, July 26, 2024.
Lynard Edward Hunter, 58, of Denver, was charged with one felony count of first-degree murder and received a no bond hold. On Monday, July 29, 2024, Hunter appeared before a Lincoln County District Court Judge where he received a $1,000,000 secured bond and ordered held in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center.
