VALE, N.C. - Barbara Bare Johnson, age 72, of the Reepsville Road in Vale, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Hull officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Warlick Funeral Home from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday.

Mrs. Johnson was born August 5, 1952, in Ashe County, to the late Jacob and Clyde Price Bare.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Wayne Johnson, and a brother Robert Bare.  She worked in furniture manufacturing.

She is survived by a son, Michael Johnson of Vale; daughter, Melissa J. Gentry (Eddie) of Vale; four brothers, Tommy Bare of Lenoir, Glen Bare of Gamewell, NC, Timmy Bare of Lenoir, and Wesley Bare of Gamewell, NC; two sisters, Jackie Little of Catawba County, and Jessie B. Oxendine (Gene) of Gamewell; three grandchildren, Courtney Gentry (Austin), Ashley Gentry, and Samantha Gentry (Jayden), all of Vale; one great-grandchild, Jax Scronce of Vale; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC  28658, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
