Cheryl Apel Ransier
September 18, 1938 – October 1, 2024
NEWTON, N.C. - Cheryl Apel Ransier, 86, of Newton, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Abernethy Laurels.
She was born September 18, 1938 in Lucas County, Ohio to the late Raymond and Lola Apel. Cheryl was of the Methodist faith and was an entrepreneur in the hospitality and fashion industry. She was very artistic, and enjoyed painting, gold leafing, and needlepoint. Cheryl played tennis and golf, and loved her family dearly (especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Dale and Bruce Apel.
Those left to cherish her memory is her son Richard Ransier and wife Lourdes of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughters Linda Matheson-Wike and husband Roy of Newton, Shelly Ransier of St. Augustine, Fla.; sister Kitty Apel Clark of Orange County, Calif.; grandchildren Paris Ransier, Ricky Ransier, Bryan Matheson, Christopher Matheson, Hunter Ransier, and Sydney Boote; great-grandchildren Henry Matheson, Elise Matheson, Tate Matheson, and Avery Matheson.
A memorial service to celebrate Cheryl’s life was held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton. Rev. Tommy Young officiated.
