Edward “Eddie” Payne
Edward “Eddie” Payne, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and faithful servant of Christ, passed away peacefully on April 8th at the age of 71.
Eddie was a man of unwavering faith, strong values, and a heart full of kindness. A skilled carpenter by trade, he built more than just homes—he built a legacy of hard work, integrity, and love. For 47 years, he dedicated his talents to Dellinger Builders, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him. Beyond his work, Eddie found great joy in playing softball, golfing, and faithfully serving in his church. His passion for life and his quiet strength touched the lives of many.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn Wallace Payne; his children, Crystal and Bobby Alley, and Amber and Matt Cannon; his grandchildren, Kelcey and Casey Robinson, Kasen and Kaley Alley, Dawson Cannon, Grayson Cannon, Matson Cannon, and Hudson Cannon; and his great-grandchildren, Josey and Jayce Robinson. He also leaves behind a host of extended family and dear friends.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing Eddie is now at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday at Lakeshore Church, 8083 Hope Drive, Denver, NC, at 4:30pm with receiving of friends prior to the service at 3:15pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Carolina Caring Hospice in his honor.
