Esther Mae Drum Josey
August 15, 1929 - November 13, 2024
MAIDEN, N.C. - Esther Mae Drum Josey, age 95, of Maiden went to her heavenly home Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.
She was born August 15, 1929 in Catawba County and was the daughter of the late James F. and Rhoda Caldwell Drum. Esther was a charter member of Mt. Anderson Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, husband, Eugene Josey; triplet children, Michael, Helen, Ellen Josey; son, Willie Josey; four brothers, Wesley Drum, Pinkney Drum, Richard Drum, John Drum; four sisters, Beulah Beal, Beatrice Kaylor, Lou Drum, and Bessie Wilkinson preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are three daughters Diane Josey Jonas and husband Bruce of Claremont, Gloria Josey Barkley of Maiden, Debbie Josey Brown and husband Ricky of Maiden; daughter-in-law Frances Josey of Maiden; brother Verlin Drum of Newton; two siters May Lee Drum Campbell of Maiden, Geraldine Drum Gilbert of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren Christal Saunders and husband Keith, Shane Jonas, Michael Jonas and wife Goldie, Stanley Barkley and wife Amy, Cheryl Withers and husband Doug, Aaron Brown and wife Jessica, Brandon Josey and fiancé Terra Ball, Hannah Thai and husband Billy; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Anderson Baptist Church in Maiden with Rev. Charles Ingle officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.
