Frances “Mary Lou” Sigmon Winters

Frances “Mary Lou” Sigmon Winters, 83, of Claremont, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Trinity Village of Hickory.
She was born August 27, 1941 in Catawba County to the late Clarence Clifton Sigmon and Dorothy Melinda Pope Sigmon. Mary Lou was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and retired as the Cafeteria Manager at Oxford Elementary School. Mary Lou found joy in cooking for her family and the children she served at Oxford. Her generosity and community spirit shone through as she helped start the Easter breakfast at church and played a key role in organizing chicken pie fundraisers. Mary Lou had a love for country music and vacationing in Nashville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence Sigmon Jr., Tony Sigmon, Ray Sigmon, James Sigmon, and Charlie Sigmon; and sister, Carolyn Sigmon.

Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Cabral, the staff of Cabral Internal Medicine, and the staff of Trinity Village for their care of Mary Lou.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Mary Lou’s life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont. Pastor Eric Hollar will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
