GCPD Releases Hallowe’en Safety Tips
And a happy Hallowe’en to all!
With Hallowe’en coming Thursday, the Gaston County Police Department has released some safety tips.
Bear these tips in mind, and you and your little goblins and ghouls will have a much safer and much more fun time with the annual round of tricks and treats in your neighborhood.
· Be visible. Carry glowsticks or flashlights and add reflective tape to costumes so drivers can see you.
· Stay alert. Walk, don’t run across streets. Use crosswalks, and always look both ways several times before crossing any street.
· Go with a group. Go trick-or-treating with friends, family members or responsible adults. Remember that there is safety in numbers.
· Always check your treats first. Make sure that all candy is wrapped and hasn’t been tampered with before you start digging in.
· Be mindful of costume safety for your little varmints and vampires. Avoid loose or long costumes that could cause children to trip and fall, and be careful with masks that may block their vision.
By taking such an active approach to your children’s safety, you can help ensure that everyone has a much safer experience and a truly spook-tacular Hallowe’en!
Hallowe’en safety can be so easy! Follow these tips to make your evening safer.
