DALLAS––Gracie Brown excels at the sport of softball.
This gifted student-athlete is making quite the name for herself at Gaston College. Brown was also well known for her softball excellence at her alma mater, A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis, and on the Carolina Force, a fast-pitch softball league based in nearby Concord. As a result, Gaston College offered her an athletic scholarship. Feeling that the college could provide what she needed to succeed, Brown joined the Rhinos in 2022.
And her experience as a student-athlete has been everything she anticipated.
“While fighting a busy schedule and travelling often, I was offered lots of help and opportunities to be academically successful,” she observed. “I have also made lifelong friendships with teammates and coaches.”
Brown was graduated by Gaston College in May, having earned an associate in arts degree. She now plans to attend Rowan-Cabarrus Community College to study radiology. Her career goal is helping children in paediatric radiology.
Being on the roster of a strong Gaston Rhinos softball team and receiving solid support on the field and in the classroom are invaluable to Brown.
“Gaston College offered me a chance to continue the sport I love, close to home,” she said. “Playing college sports taught me a lot of life lessons and made me a dedicated, hard worker. With tutoring and helpful coaches, I was able to stay focused on my studies and still enjoy my sport.”
