Gregory “Greg” Edward Gilfilen
September 18, 2024
TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. - Gregory “Greg” Edward Gilfilen, 52, of Taylorsville, left this earth for Heaven on September 18, 2024.
Greg was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Claude “Hammer” and Peggy Mullins Gilfilen, but his family moved back to their home in Naoma, W.Va. when he was very young. He grew up surrounded by a Godly and loving extended family.
Greg moved to North Carolina as a young man where he worked hard and enjoyed a simple quiet life. He was employed at Carpenter Decorating for the last nine years. Greg loved all things outdoors, especially gardening and making sure the yard was always mowed and beautiful. He also loved the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Greg was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Left to cherish his memory are the loves of his life, fiancé and life partner for nearly 26 years, Karen Kirkland; sons, Eric Kirkland (Rachel) and Rocky Kirkland (Katie); the grandchildren he loved to pieces, Aaron, Cooper, and Kailynn; his beloved dog Cam; and his uncles, aunts, cousins, in-laws, and many friends who all loved him so much.
The family will hold a celebration of life service for Greg at a later date.
