Martha Ann Holsclaw Headrick
Martha Ann Holsclaw Headrick, 75, of Newton, was called home on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Carolina Caring.
She was born November 14, 1949, in Catawba County to the late James Robert Holdsclaw and Lillian Lorene Isenhour Holsclaw. Martha was a pillar at St. Paul's Reformed Church where she served in several capacities. She attended App State to receive her teaching and master's degrees. She retired after 30 years to take care of her mother. Martha loved reading and enjoyed puzzles. She got a love for feeding and watching the birds from her mother and her family. Martha had a deep affection for children, which fueled her passion for the Christmas Child Ministry, otherwise known as the Shoe Box Ministry. Martha had a calling to serve and care for others. That included her family, her church and her community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Johnny Andrew Headrick, her sister, Maxine Bond and brother-in-law, Bob and her nephew, Steve Dixon. Those left to cherish her memory are her nieces, Barbara Dixon, Miranda D. Hickman (Donald), and nephew, Matthew Dixon of Tennessee.
The family would like to extend special thanks to her friends Joyce Warren, Jimmy Wesson, for their love and support over the years and especially during her illness.
A service to celebrate Martha's life will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton. Rev. David Stikeleather will officiate. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The family will receive friends prior to service from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Bennett Funeral Service. Those serving as pallbearers are William Warren, John Warren, Mike Davis, Gary Watson, Danny Stillwell, and Rick Crotts.
