Ministry’s Christmas Preps In Full-Swing

Williams: Thirty-one families and 47 children signed up so far

LINCOLNTON––For Christian Ministry of Lincoln County, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

And according to executive director Mitzi Williams, the ministry is preparing right now and in a mighty big way.

“We have started signing up families for our big Christmas give-out,” Williams said this week. “If our totals in just the first days we’ve been signing up are any indication of what is to come, we will need your help! So far, we have signed up 31 families and 47 kids. We still have well over a month to go. Please consider helping us by donating food, toys and financial assistance.”

And the ministry is collecting used toys for its used-toy giveaway. You may drop off the toys at 207 S. Poplar St., Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., as Williams noted.

“Consider participating in our angel tree toy drive!” she added. “Our angels are ready for picking up! Get some for your family, your friends, your church or your business.”

To get yours, call Mimi Rhyne at (704) 732-0383, or stop by the office, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., to pick up yours.

“You can donate financially,” said Williams. “You can donate toys. You can donate food. You can donate your time helping us sort food. The two weeks after Thanksgiving are the best weeks to help sort.”

Call her at (704) 732-0383 to schedule that. Groups can even be scheduled on weekends and weeknights.

With the help of its member churches, local businesses, social groups and individual supporters, Christian Ministry seeks to meet the needs of those who are less fortunate through its emergency services, soup kitchen, annual Christmas campaign, nursing home program and, for local elderly and shut-in residents, the delivery of LINC Home Meals.
