Notice Of Discharge Of Untreated Sewage – 1369 McKay Road
The untreated wastewater entered Clark Creek in the Catawba River Basin
The City of Newton experienced discharges of untreated wastewater from the wastewater collection system at 1369 McKay Road on July 25, 2024. An estimated 3,375 gallons were discharged from about 6 to 8:15 a.m., and an estimated 107,490 gallons were discharged from about 12 to 10 p.m. The flow obstruction that led to the discharges was caused by the failure of a bar screen that is part of the wastewater collection process. The bar screen is being repaired. The untreated wastewater entered Clark Creek in the Catawba River Basin. This notice was required by North Carolina General Statutes Article 21, Chapter 143.215C.
