Phyllis Lavonne Goodson Huss
March 13, 1940 - September 30, 2024
Phyllis Lavonne Goodson Huss was born March 13, 1940 in Lincoln County to the late Alene and Guy Goodson. She left to her heavenly home on September 30, 2024 following an extended period of dementia.
Phyllis was a graduate of Lincolnton High School and spent her life working in the healthcare industry. She will be mostly remembered for putting others first and showing empathy for all. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. Her friends say that she was a graceful Southern lady who was always properly dressed and an exceptional shopping buddy especially if a deal was to be had. She was also a wonderful sister and the best mother-in-law a girl could have.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Noah Carse Huss Jr. (N.C.). Together they had two children, son David Huss (wife Vonda) and son Brad Huss (wife Jill). Grandchildren Mason (wife Mary Katherine), Parker, Mia and Ana.
Phyllis is also survived by her sisters Judy Watts (husband Jim), Karen Presswood (husband Randy) and Rita Reel (husband Ronald) and brothers Roger Goodson (wife Kathy) and Michael Goodson (wife Gail). She was preceded by sister Bernice Harris (husband Bill) and brothers Gerald Goodson (wife Wanda) and Wayne Goodson (wife Erika).
The family would like to thank the many friends, neighbors and relatives who have been so supportive over the years. A special thanks to Gale Deal who provided care, took Phyllis to community events and was a friend for conversation. Also, thanks to Abby, Barbara and Regina of Via Health Partners (Hospice and Palliative Care of Lincoln County) who were a tremendous help and provided sound guidance.
A celebration of Phyllis’ life was held at 3 p.m. Sunday October 6 at Warlick Funeral Home (125 Dave Warlick Dr., Lincolnton, NC 28092). The family received friends starting at 1 p.m.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to First Baptist Church Backpack Program (201 Robin Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092) https://fbclincolnton.org/give/ and to VIA Health Partners (PO Box 470408, Charlotte, NC 28227) http://hospiceoflincolncounty.org.
