Ronnie Phillip Wilson
July 20, 1954 – August 9, 2024
CATAWBA, N.C. - Ronnie Phillip Wilson, 70, of Catawba passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby.
He was born July 20, 1954 in Catawba County to the late Floyd William Wilson and Mildred Augusta Ramseur. He was a member of Smyre’s Chapel AME Zion Church in Catawba where he was Chairman of the Trustees, a member of the choir, and Sunday School Superintendent. He was a 1972 graduate of Fred T. Foard High School, and served with the fire department in Hickory for over a decade. Ronnie was employed with several awesome jobs throughout his career, and finally retired while serving in retail in 2012.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Chadrick Jerome Wison; brothers Glenn Wilson of Newton, and Benny Wilson of Silver Springs, Md.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 27 years Eleanor Hewitt Wilson of the home; daughter Anina Ruff of Gastonia; stepsons Timothy Connor of Catawba, James Blake Jr. of Lincolnton, Terry Connor and wife Christi of Conover; stepdaughter Tina Connor of Catawba; brothers Donald Ramseur of Newton, Floyd Wilson of Silver Springs, Md.; sister Sherred Ramseur of Silver Springs, Md.; grandchildren Jada Latta, Isaish Ruff, Nicolas Wilson, Christopher Connor, Martin Freeman, Miracle Blake, Layla Blake, and Alyssa Connor; four great-grandsons; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A homegoing service to celebrate Ronnie’s life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton. Rev. David Rankin will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Bennett Funeral Service.
