Lincoln County Concert Association Concert, Sunday, November 10: Zoe and Cloyd, a band who has a blend of traditional bluegrass and klezmer folk-jazz will be in concert Sunday, November 10 at the Lincoln Cultural Center, 403 E. Main St., Lincolnton, NC 28092. Tickets are $20 for Adults, Children are Free and will be sold at the door. For more information call 704-735-7287.

City of Lincolnton Veterans Day Parade, Monday, November 11: The City of Lincolnton will observe Veterans Day on Monday, November 11, 2024 with a parade and ceremony that will take place in downtown Lincolnton from 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. The parade will assemble and line up on East Water Street starting at Flint. After the parade, there will be a short ceremony at Court Square. All city offices will be closed on Veterans Day. Veteran banners will be displayed throughout downtown Lincolnton to honor veterans.

Veterans Day Fish Fry, Monday, November 11: The Maiden Sportsmen Club and Brookwood Café will host a Veterans Day Fish Fry on Monday, November 11 from 4-6 p.m. The event will be at the Café located at 202 Providence Mill Rd., Maiden, NC 28650

Veterans Celebration In Newton, Monday, November 11: Carolina Caring invites the community to a heartfelt ceremony honoring all veterans, especially Vietnam War veterans, on Monday, November 11, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Historic Courthouse in Downtown Newton. The event is open to the public and will be a powerful tribute to those who have served our country. Shuttles will be available from the Newton downtown public parking lots to the event. This year's ceremony will feature special guest speaker Col. Troy "Gil" Gilleland, a distinguished veteran with nearly 39 years of service, including combat deployments and leadership roles. Gilleland’s dedication and service exemplify the spirit of our nation's heroes. The meaningful ceremony will include reflections from Vietnam veterans and personal testimonials. The community is encouraged to come together at this event to honor their sacrifices and celebrate their bravery. For more information, call 828.466.0466.

GWU Veterans Day Service, Monday, November 11: Gardner-Webb University will host a Veterans Day Service on Monday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. in Dover Chapel. The featured speaker is Cpl. Brandon Blair, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and senior pastor of Langston Baptist Church in Conway, S.C.  The service is open to the campus community and to the public.  Blair served in the Marine Corps infantry as a machine gunner. He fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom and in Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan), completing two full combat tours. On Aug. 16, 2006, while fighting in Fallujah, Iraq, Blair earned the Purple Heart, awarded for wounds received in battle.  Gardner-Webb University is located in Boiling Springs, N.C.

Veterans Coffee Connection, Tuesday, November 12: Veterans Coffee Connection is a great place for veterans to meet, share stories and socialize with other veterans in our area. Veterans of all ages and military branches are welcome to meet on the second Tuesday of every month at Bar-B-Q King in Lincolnton from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. for free coffee and donuts. LC Board Of Education Out-Going Members Reception, Tuesday, November 12: The Lincoln County Board of Education will host a Reception for Out-Going Board Members Ms. Myra Heavener and Mr. Mark Mullen on Tuesday, November 12 at 5 p.m. The Reception will be held in the Commons Area at the Lincoln County Schools Central Services Office, 201 Jeb Seagle Dr., Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Holiday Activities At The Gaston County Museum, Friday, December 6: The Gaston County Museum of Art & History will kick off the holiday season on Friday, December 6, with the Museum’s annual Holiday Open House from 6-9 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The event coincides with Carols on the Square, presented by the Town of Dallas. This year, we will again have horse-drawn carriage rides, crafts and activities for children, refreshments around the fire pit in the garden, and the Museum and Carriage House will be open and beautifully decorated with traditional Victorian decorations. There will be a North Pole Post Box for children who wish for their letter to get to Santa at “reindeer speed.” (Santa has been known to write back.) Carriage rides, which start from the parking lot of the Museum’s Daniel Stowe Carriage House on West Church Street, are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, and free to Museum members. Reservations are not required; tickets are available at the door. The Museum galleries will be open until 9 p.m. for visitors to enjoy three current exhibits. The Museum is free and open to the public Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Gaston County Museum of Art & History is located at 131 W.
