“Unseen And Overlooked” Exhibition, Now – October 28: The Cleveland County Arts Council will host an exhibition on both macro and aerial photography in the arts council galleries at 111 S. Washington St. in Shelby, NC. For more information visit www.ccartscouncil.org.

GCMAH Ghost Tours, October 11, 18, 25: Haunted Gaston Ghost Tours on the Court Square in Dallas are back on Fridays in October! Join the staff of the Gaston County Museum and the Dallas Branch Library on a lantern-lit stroll through Historic Dallas and hear about these hauntings and more! Tours are family friendly, though ages 12 and up are encouraged. Children under 12 are free. The tours involve approximately an hour of walking, with some non-paved terrain. Guests with accessibility concerns are asked to let staff know prior to the start of the tour. Tours are every Friday evening in October at 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. (October 11, 18 and 25.) All tours will begin at the front of the Gaston County Museum of Art & History, 131 W. Main St., Dallas. Tickets are $10 for the general public 12 and older and are available at Eventbrite or by calling the Museum at (704) 922-7681. Admission is free for Museum members but reservations are still required.

The Pirate Jean Lafitte In Lincoln County, Monday, October 14: The Eastern Lincoln Historical Society will host authors Ashley Oliphant and Beth Yarbrough who spent two-years researching evidence that the mysterious Frenchman calling himself Lorenzo Ferrer, who arrived in Lincolnton in the year 1839, was actually the infamous Gulf Coast pirate, Jean Laffite. The authors will discuss their book Jean Laffite Revealed: Unraveling One of America’s Longest Running Mysteries, and offer an answer to questions surrounding the end of this pirate’s life. This program is free to the public and light refreshments will be served. Please join them at the Mundy House Annex on Monday, October 14 at 6 p.m. at 4339 Business Highway 16 North in Denver, N.C.

Scary-Ville, Friday, October 18: Downtown Cherryville transforms into Scary-Ville on Friday, October 18 from 6-10 p.m. Family fun, hay rides, costume contests, vendors, tribute band and more. Main Street will close to traffic from 2 p.m. on the day of the festival. For more details contact Cherryville Chamber of Commerce.

Gainsville Baptist Fall Festival, Saturday, October 19: Come join us for fun and fellowship on Saturday, October 19 for our Fall Festival from 5:30-8 p.m. Games, crafts, bounce house, slide, hay ride, cake walk, hot dogs, popcorn, funnel cakes and more! LC Apple Festival, Saturday, October 19: The Lincoln County Apple Festival is the largest festival in the City of Lincolnton each year and features all things Lincoln County from agriculture to artisans, cooking to crafts, and food to fun! A family-friendly event that features local apple growers, a farmer’s market, local talent, foods that include apples, kid’s activities and more than 250 vendors with crafts and exhibits for all ages. NC Liver Mush Festival – Mush, Music and Mutts, Saturday, October 19: Lean into the music and food traditions of Cleveland County in Uptown Shelby at the 39th Annual Liver Mush Festival on Saturday, October 19 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Don’t miss all the events with livermush at the center of all of them. Eating contest, recipe contest, cook-off, kids zone, pets zone, live music on two stages and music and stories at the Earl Scruggs Center and more!. All events are located around 115 S. Boogers & Bingo, Saturday, October 26: The Lincoln cultural Center’s 3rd Annual Boogers & Bingo will be held on Saturday, October 26 at 6 p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.) in the James W. Warren Citizens Center, 115 W. Main St., Lincolnton, NC 28092. Frightfully FUN for the Whole Family. Dress as your favorite fright night Booger and play Bingo for Big Prizes! Lincoln Family Trunk Or Treat, Monday, October 28: Please join us for a night of fun and games on Monday, October 28 from 6-8 p.m. in the Lincoln Family Back Parking Lot at 447 McCalister Rd., Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Crouse Fire Department Trick or Treat Fun, Saturday, October 31: Come out and join in the Fun on Halloween Night. Candy will be given out in front of the “Haunted House” (no admittance) next door to the fire station from 5-9 p.m. The street will be closed off for those who want to set-up for Trunk or Treat or to listen to the music.  Plus, at the fire department they will be selling their famous Bar-B-Que Bologna Sandwich for $5.
