Kakassy Contemporary Art Exhibition, Now – December 31: The exhibit of contemporary artwork by artist C.M. ‘Kit’ Kakassy at the Gaston County Museum of Art & History, 131 W. “Unseen And Overlooked” Exhibition, Now – October 28: The Cleveland County Arts Council will host an exhibition on both macro and aerial photography in the arts council galleries at 111 S. Washington St. in Shelby, NC. For more information visit www.ccartscouncil.org.

GCMAH Ghost Tours, October 25: Haunted Gaston Ghost Tours on the Court Square in Dallas are back on Fridays in October! Join the staff of the Gaston County Museum and the Dallas Branch Library on a lantern-lit stroll through Historic Dallas and hear about these hauntings and more! Tours are family friendly, though ages 12 and up are encouraged. Children under 12 are free. The tours involve approximately an hour of walking, with some non-paved terrain. Guests with accessibility concerns are asked to let staff know prior to the start of the tour. Tours are every Friday evening in October at 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. (October 25.) All tours will begin at the front of the Gaston County Museum of Art & History, 131 W. Main St., Dallas. Tickets are $10 for the general public 12 and older and are available at Eventbrite or by calling the Museum at (704) 922-7681. Admission is free for Museum members but reservations are still required.

Hart Square Heritage Festival, Saturday, October 26: Hart Square Foundation will welcome visitors to its 39th Heritage Festival in Vale, N.C. on October 26, 2024.  On the day of the festival, Hart Square Village will bustle with knowledgeable craftspeople, many of whom have gained regional and national acclaim for their artistry.  This highly talented group of volunteers continue the tradition of bringing Hart Square Village to life. You will witness everything from lacemaking, to tin smithing, to turning pottery and firing it in a groundhog kiln. Spooktacular, Saturday, October 26: Come join in the fun with the Partnership for Children of Lincoln & Gaston Counties for their 16th Annual Spooktacular on Saturday, October 26 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Woodmill Winery, 1350 Woodmill Winery Lane, Vale, NC.

Boogers & Bingo, Saturday, October 26: The Lincoln cultural Center’s 3rd Annual Boogers & Bingo will be held on Saturday, October 26 at 6 p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.) in the James W. Warren Citizens Center, 115 W. Main St., Lincolnton, NC 28092. Frightfully FUN for the Whole Family. Dress as your favorite fright night Booger and play Bingo for Big Prizes! Lincolnton Drive-Thru Halloween Trick-Or-Treat, Saturday, October 26: The City of Lincolnton Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with the ReMax Crossroads, Lincoln County Library, First United Methodist Church, and Emmanuel Lutheran Church will host a drive-thru Halloween Trick-or-Treat event in downtown Lincolnton on Saturday, October 26th from 5-7 p.m. or until supplies last.  The drive-thru event will be a circuit that will include stops at the First Federal Park, First United Methodist Church, and Emmanuel Lutheran Church.  Each stop will have Halloween treats such as candy and prizes to give out to children 12 and under. Grounded Coffeehouse 5th Annual Trunk-or-Treat, Saturday, October 26: Join us for our 5th Annual Trunk-or-Treat at Grounded Coffeehouse, 2657 E. Main St., Lincolnton, NC 28092 beginning at 6 p.m. Bring your kids out for a fun and safe night of trick-or-treating they'll never forget. We're calling all car enthusiasts and community members to set up and hand out candy, making this night magical for all our little trick-or-treaters. This year, we're excited to announce that Needless Toys and Collectibles will be collaborating with us, which means more candy and a bigger turnout! Don’t miss out on this spook-tacular event—let's make it the best one yet!

GWU Music Program, Saturday, October 26: The Gardner-Webb University Department of Music will present a performance by Blue Ridge Consort on Saturday, October 26, at 7 p.m. in Dover Chapel as a part of the 2024-25 GWU Distinguished Artist Series. During the concert, individuals will have an opportunity to contribute monetary donations to help those in western North Carolina. These gifts will be distributed through First Baptist in Asheville toward individuals and businesses in need of immediate supplies as well as future need for building materials. Blue Ridge Consort is a chamber choir made up of professional choral musicians in western North Carolina, to include music educators, music ministers, voice teachers, and skilled amateurs from around the region. The performance, entitled “for all of us on earth so in need of transformation,” will include works by Elizabeth Alexander, Reginald Unterseher, Alice Parker, Earlene Rentz, Susan Brumfield, Stephen Paulus, and James Mulholland. Lincoln Family Trunk-Or-Treat, Monday, October 28: Please join us for a night of fun and games on Monday, October 28 from 6-8 p.m. in the Lincoln Family Back Parking Lot at 447 McCalister Rd., Lincolnton, NC 28092.

CCHR Trunk-Or-Treat, Tuesday, October 29: Don’t forget to wear your costume and come on out for Trunk-or-Treat at Carolina Care Health & Rehabilitation n Tuesday, October 29 from 5-7 p.m. Free Pelicans Snoballs and lots of fun! Carolina Care is located at 111 Harrelson Rd., Cherryville, NC 28021.

Crouse Fire Department Trick-Or-Treat Fun, Saturday, October 31: Come out and join in the Fun on Halloween Night. Candy will be given out in front of the “Haunted House” (no admittance) next door to the fire station from 5-9 p.m. The street will be closed off for those who want to set-up for Trunk or Treat or to listen to the music.  Plus, at the fire department they will be selling their famous Bar-B-Que Bologna Sandwich for $5. Dia de Los Muertos Celebration, Saturday, November 2: In celebration of the traditional Mexican ritual, “The Day of the Dead,” the Gaston County Art & History Museum is presenting the Dia de Los Muertos Festival Saturday, November 2 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. in front of the Museum, 131 W. Main St. in Dallas. The street festival will take place outside the Museum, and the street will be closed to through-traffic.  The festival is free and open to the public. Artisans, local craft vendors, food trucks, a bounce house, a DJ, face painting, children’s activities, performances by the traditional dancers from St. Michael’s Cultural Outreach Ministry and by NC’s Queen of the Mariachi, Maria Elena Valdez.
