Eugene “Son” Lafayette Huffman

Eugene “Son” Lafayette Huffman, 87, of Claremont, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025 at his residence.
He was born August 8, 1937 in Catawba County to the late Carroll Lafayette Huffman and Cora Little Huffman. Eugene was a member of Oxford Baptist Church in Conover and retired as a supervisor with Pike Electric after more than 20 years of service. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 13 years and was an avid outdoorsman. Eugene enjoyed hunting deer, bear, turkey, and boar and loved being outside any chance he got.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Huffman; sisters, Mary Shidal and Irene Good; and son, Bobby Efird.

Grandchildren: Holly Efird Chapman (PJ), Christian Huffman (Brittany), Kyle Efird (Ashton), Cassie Loftin (Nick), and Logan Efird
Great-Grandchildren: Lainey Chapman, Jaxon Huffman, River Huffman, Dawson Efird, and Rhett Chapman
A service to celebrate Eugene’s life will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Oxford Baptist Church in Conover. Rev. Byron Repass will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at Oxford Baptist Church.
