Larry was born February 3, 1941, in Lincoln County, to the late Dwight “Bud” and Hazel McGinnis Seagle.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Burgin Seagle.

Larry was very active in his community.  He graduated from Lincolnton High School in 1959 where he was a triple letterman (baseball, football, and basketball).  He was a member of the Linc-Cherryville American Legion Baseball Team in the late 50’s where he pitched.  The only “Southpaw” at the time.

After working as an insurance auditor for several years, he joined WLON Radio Station in the early 70’s and remained the voice for Lincolnton’s news and sports for 35+ years. He loved being able to announce the local football games on Friday nights and did this for many years.  His love for sports expanded to include announcing games for Parks and Rec for the local county baseball games.  He announced races at the Hickory Motor Speedway (back in the Ned Jarrett days of racing).  He was a member of the Carolina’s Golf Reports Association in the 80s and enjoyed traveling and promoting each new golf course in North and South Carolina.

Larry worked as a 911 operator for Lincoln County for 12 years before joining the Lincoln County Sherriff’s office as their public information officer where he remained part-time.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Crump Seagle; three sons, Steven Jones of the home, Mitchell Jones (Courtney) of Indian Trail, and Jeff Seagle of Cherryville; grandsons, Cooper Jones, Drake Jones, and Graham Jones; brothers, Tim Seagle of Lincolnton, and Vic Seagle of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and a sister, Nancy Cable of Lincolnton.
