Virginia Dellinger Burns
September 20, 1943 - September 18, 2025
LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Virginia Dellinger Burns, age 81, of Wendover Drive in Lincolnton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
Mrs. Burns was born September 20, 1943, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, daughter of the late Doc Eugene and Willie Mae Sherrill Dellinger.
Virginia was a devoted mother to Shannon Mitchem (Ronnie) and Greg Burns. She was a proud grandmother to Makenzie Mitchem, Christa Burns, Amanda Bryant, Ashley Moncree, and Chelsea Matthews. Virginia most recently enjoyed being a great-grandmother to Gracen Kit Bryant. In total, she has 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, Virginia is also survived by her sister, Barbara Blankenship; and her brother, Gene Dellinger.
In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Burns; son, Chuck Eugene Burns; and grandson, Matthew Dennis Bryant.
A graveside service for Mrs. Burns will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery, Lincolnton, NC, with the Reverend Judy L. Drysdale officiating. The family will greet friends following the graveside service.
For those who wish to pay their respects, Mrs. Burns will rest in Warlick Funeral Home during business hours beginning Monday, September 22, 2025, until 2 p.m. the day of the graveside service.
