Joyce Pruitt Rhyne
May 19, 1946 - August 30, 2024
SHELBY, N.C. - Joyce Ann Pruitt Rhyne, 78, of Shelby, departed this life on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Carolina Care Health & Rehabilitation Center, Cherryville.
She was born May 19,1946, in Lincolnton to the late John B. and Dollie M. Pruitt. She is one of four children, James William Edge, Sally Robena Pruitt Hooper, and Beaulah Mae Teague who all preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and siblings. she is also preceded in death by her precious Aunt Meg and Uncle Arthur.
Joyce loved to entertain. She never half-stepped when she was entertaining. She wanted the best of the best, and she enjoyed cooking, and traveling the world. She was very spontaneous! In fact, she even packed her things one day and moved to Ireland. Oh, how she loved to travel, make friends, and just simply love people! She was the owner of two companies in her lifetime: M & J Fashion and Southern Connections. She was also a pattern maker and made patterns for the prisons and state workers. Joyce loved clothes and was one of the finest dressers around. She had many talents, and was a decorator, an avid reader, a lover of old westerns, and loved to listen to Elvis Presley Gospel.
Joyce was a member of Jerusalem Christian Fellowship Church of God, in Shelby. When Joyce gave her life to Christ, she was "All In". She only wanted to do what was right, and she always wanted to know more about God and His loving grace.
She leaves to cherish memories her nieces, Vanessa (Rick) Rollins, Wanda (Glenn) Foster, Susan (Steve) Hicks; and nephews, Jim (Melany) Edge and Rocky (Wanda) Teague; a host of great-nieces and nephews; cousins; church members; loving friends; and her family cohesion Wayne and Janie Eaker, Thomas and Margaret McCluney, Alice and Robert Buss, Donna Lavery. and Charles and Tammy Harbison.
Her funeral service was held on Monday, September 2, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Community Church 6753 NC-182, Cherryville, NC 28021 with the Bishop Thomas McCluney officiating. The family received friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. The burial followed the service in the church cemetery.
